Califer Hill viewpoint is a 5minute drive or for the more adventurous it is just over the hour walk from Forres.
Califer Hill Viewpoint is a picnic site and superb viewpoint with extensive breathtaking views across the Moray Firth, Findhorn and beyond. Access to the viewpoint at Califer Hill is suitable for all age groups and wheelchair users.
Nelsons Tower sits to the eastern end of Forres high street on top of Cluny Hill.
The octagonal tower was built in 1806 to commemorate Admiral Lord Nelson and his victory at Trafalgar. It dominates the Forres skyline standing 70 feet
(21 metres) high and it peers through the top of the trees. There are three floors, connected by a spiral staircase, and the tower has a diameter of 24 feet
(8 metres).
The climb to the top of the tower is well worth it; from the viewing gallery there is a spectacular view of the Moray Firth, Findhorn to the North, and the Grampian Mountains to the South.
The tower is open to visitors when the flag on top can be seen flying - but, this rule is also dependent on the weather conditions.
