Trips usually start each day by meeting at 10:00am at our River Base on the Findhorn. You will usually be back to Aviemore by around 4:00pm. Limited transport is available to the river by us and is an additional £15.00 per person (minimum 2), this is due to us having to do a round trip of 108 miles to collect and deliver to Aviemore.
The River Findhorn is the best white water rafting adventure experience to be had in the UK for both unparalleled scenery and exciting whitewater. It is one of the fastest flowing rivers in Scotland and is fed by around 346 square miles of catchment.
There are four sections of the river that are run on a regular basis with a combined drop in gradient of a massive 500 feet over 18 miles. The sections run on any given day depend on the water level from recent rainfall or snowmelt.
This Findhorn Rafting trip is suited to those over the age of 12 years and for anyone else that is fit enough to walk a mile. Any of the larger rapids can be easily walked for those that would like to come along on a trip but are concerned about running the rapids.
The River Findhorn source in the Monadhliath Mountains at 2800 feet is located to the south of Inverness and Loch Ness. It heads in an East North Easterly direction finally making its way to the Moray Firth after its 62 mile journey.
The sections rafted are situated near the towns of Ferness and Forres with the most common starting point being at Randolph’s Leap. Travelling distances from Nairn – 12 miles, Elgin – 20 miles, Aviemore – 26 miles, Inverness – 28 miles, Fort William – 86 miles, Aberdeen – 85 miles, Perth – 107 miles, Edinburgh – 150 miles and Glasgow – 164 miles.
Ace runs more rafting trips on the Findhorn than everyone else put together. We live by it and know it intimately. We are the only outfit that runs the river all year round at any level on all sections. We use smaller boats that enable us to get down the narrow lower gorge in low water conditions and try to run a maximum of four boat trips so that your experience is a personalised adventure and not a commercial cattle market. We are committed to provide the best possible service and experience in an exciting friendly safe environment.
The trips also include interesting interpretation of local history, flora and fauna. When water temperatures are not freezing we include cliff jumping for those that want to.
We are mindful of other river users and work in conjunction with anglers who are enjoying the river for its serenity and the excitement of hooking some of the massive Salmon that we often see remains of from the local otter population.
